Taste Analysis

Taste, Learn,

Appreciate.

So what is Wine Tasting ? The first statement worth mentioning is that wine tasting is not drinking. Wine tasting is actually about weighing and measuring. It’s stimulates every of our senses :  sight, smell, taste and touch. In fact wine tasting is analyzing the wine. We particularly analyse the color (sight), the smell and the taste.

Our Vineyard

Since its foundation, Le Château de Lescours was one of the largest property of Saint-Emilion. The castle was built in 1341. Owned by the Chariol’s familly since 4 generations, this property covers 7.4  hectares of vineyards on a soil of gravel and sand typical of the plains of Saint-Emilion.

Our Story

The Château de Lescours was built in 1341. The name comes from his first lord : Pey de Lascortz, squire of the English King Edouard III (1327-1377). Right after its foundation, the Château de Lescours was one of the largest of its region.

The process of wine making starts with a thorough and delicate work on the vineyard. During every step of the process we carefully respect our ancestral tradition to make sure we provide the most unique wine every year.

My wife and i were in St.-Emillion in early August when most wineries are closed for tours. This little gem we found was a most pleasant surprise. We called to see if they were open, and if there was an english speaking person for the tour. It turns out the winemakers son , who grew up there, went to the US for a year, like his father, to learn english and American ways. We had one other couple join , also from the US, and we leisurely toured, tasted 4 wines and met his mother and brother who run the business. This shows how a well run boutique operation gets high marks on wine, simple ambiance and charm.
